About

Welcome.

My name is Stanley Johns K. and I am a SQL server Database Administrator. I have got my MCTS and MCITP in SQL database administration (2005 and 2008) and hope to earn an MCM. I learn something new about SQL server every so often and continually try to improve my knowledge and skill of the product. Fortunately I am passionate about SQL server and enjoy learning the product.

I started working with SQL server version 2000, then 2005, then 2008 and now I am at 2008 R2. I have also worked on Oracle (10g, 11i) once in a while, but I specialize in SQL server.

While working with SQL server, I come across many specific issues that are not the first few results returned by a search query. I started this blog to document the fixes I have found to these issues, and also for others, who may come across the same issues. Since I still do some small gigs with MySQL once in a while, I will also include a few MySQL findings.

If  you share the same passion about SQL server, feel free to drop in a comment. If you live in the greater Toronto area of Ontario, Canada, I would love to meet up and network (we is smarter than me).

Cheers.

  1. Hi Stanley,

I am searching for a SQL DBA for a client in Markham. It is a permanent job with a company that supplies record storage services to doctors/clinics – so lots of big databases. If you are interested, please give me a call/email. Tried to connect via Linkedin but don’t have your email.

    Thanks

  2. Hi Stanley,

I am Pratik Amin, an Author Relationship Executive at Packt Publishing. We’ve recently come up with a new title on SQL Server Denali Reporting Services: Enterprise Report Blueprints and we are now searching for an author to develop the book.

This book will lead the readers through practical examples to teach a full range of skills for reporting with SQL Server 2008 Reporting Services. This book will take them further and cover how to prepare various types of Enterprise level reports.

I was reading through your profile and wondered whether you might be interested in this project?

Thanks for considering this proposal. Do let me know your views.

    Thanks,

    Pratik Amin
